I left a decent paying, 9-5 job in cubicle city at the beginning of this month. Some have called me crazy, irresponsible and impulsive while others view me as a hero. I now work nights at Local 149 in South Boston. The mornings beg me to stay in bed but I haven't quite mastered the art of sleeping past 9 just yet. The days are mine to run errands while the rest of the city is at work, attend mid-afternoon yoga classes, or to just do nothing but enjoy the sunshine. My feet ache beyond belief when my head hits the pillow but I swear a smile has not left my face in weeks. I host daily dance parties in my condo. I sing at the top of my lungs on the way to and from work. I am blissfully happy and until recently I had not realized how valuable happiness is to me. Sure I haven't quite figured out the financial's of my new life style but I have some time to relish in this new found happiness before I have to figure out the logistics of my bank account. I never would have imagined that I would enjoy working in a kitchen as much as I do. Tonight I was entrusted by Sam to make boozy whipped cream and parmesan crisps and you would have thought she handed me a million dollars. I am looking forward to many more nights in front of the line expo'ing food and hope someday that I find myself behind the line wearing a fabulous pair of check pants! Stay tuned for more kitchen adventures as my path to culinary greatness continues...
